National Cadet Corps

• The National Cadet Corps is an Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi, Delhi, India.
• It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
• The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and universities all over India.
• The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.

NCC Motto and Aim:

• The discussion for motto of NCC was started in 11th central advisory meeting(CAD) held on 11 August 1978. At that time there were many mottos in mind like "Duty and Discipline"; "Duty, Unity and Discipline"; "Duty and Unity"; "Unity and Discipline".
• Later, at the 12th CAD meeting on 12 Oct 1980 they selected and declared "Unity and Discipline" as motto for the NCC.
• In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
• The Aims of the NCC was laid out in 1988, NCC aims at developing discipline, character, brotherhood, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens.
• Not only these, it also aims to enlighten leadership qualities among the youth who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. It also motivates the young to choose a career in armed forces.

NCC Pledge

• We the cadets of the national cadet corps,
• do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of India.
• We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizens of our nation.
• We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.

National Testing Agency

About National Testing Agency:

• National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
• To assess competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment has always been a challenge in terms of matching with research based international standards, efficiency, transparency and error free delivery.
• The National Testing Agency is entrusted to address all such issues using best in every field, from test preparation, to test delivery and to test marking.

MISSION

• To improve equity and quality in education by administering research based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, fair and international level assessments.

OBJECTIVES

• To conduct efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission, and recruitment purposes.
• To undertake research on educational, professional and testing systems to identify gaps in the knowledge systems and take steps for bridging them.
• To identify experts and institutions in setting examination questions.
• To produce and disseminate information and research on education and professional development standards.

FUNCTIONS

• To identify partner institutions with adequate infrastructure from the existing schools and higher education institutions which would facilitate conduct of online examinations without adversely impacting their academic routine.
• To create a question bank for all subjects using the modern techniques
• To establish a strong R&D culture as well as a pool of experts in different aspects of testing
• To help individual colleges and universities in the field of testing and to provide training and advisory services to the institutions in India. To provide quality testing services to the academic institutions in India.
• To develop a state of the art culture of testing in India by using domestic and international expertise. To collaborate with international organizations like ETS to achieve the same.
• To undertake any other examination that is entrusted to it by the Ministries/Departments of Government of India/State Governments.
• To undertake the reforms and training of school boards as well as other bodies where the testing standards should be comparable with the entrance examinations.

National Mission for Clean Ganga

About National Mission for Clean Ganga:

• National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is the implementation wing of National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA).
• At national level NMCG is the coordinating body and is being supported by States Level Program Management Groups (SPMGs) of UP, Uttarakhand, Bihar and West Bengal which, are also registered as societies under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and a dedicated Nodal Cell in Jharkhand.
• The area of operation of NMCG shall be the Ganga River Basin, including the states through which Ganga flows, as well as the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
• The area of operation may be extended, varied or altered in future, by the Governing Council to such other states through which major tributaries of the river Ganga flow, and as the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) may decide for the purpose of effective abatement of pollution and conservation of the river Ganga.

The aims and objectives of NMCG

• To ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the river Ganga by adopting a river basin approach to promote inter-sectoral co-ordination for comprehensive planning and management and
• To maintain minimum ecological flows in the river Ganga with the aim of ensuring water quality and environmentally sustainable development.

Vision and Key Function

Vision

The Vision for Ganga Rejuvenation constitutes restoring the wholesomeness of the river defined in terms of ensuring “Aviral Dhara” (Continuous Flow”), “Nirmal Dhara”(“Unpolluted Flow”), Geologic and ecological integrity.

Key Functions

To achieve the objectives, NMCG shall carry out the following key functions namely:

• Implement the work programme of National Ganga River Basin Authority(NGRBA).
• Implement the World Bank supported National Ganga River Basin Project.
• Coordinate and oversee the implementation of projects sanctioned by Government of India under NGRBA.
• Undertake any additional work or functions as may be assigned by MoWR,RD &GJ in the area of conservation of river Ganga.
• Make rules and regulations for the conduct of the affairs of the NMCG and add or amend, vary or rescind them from time to time.
• Accept or to provide any grant of money, loan securities or property of any kind and to undertake and accept the management of any endowment trust, fund or donation not inconsistent with the objectives of NMCG.
• Take all such action and to enter all such actions as may appear necessary or incidental for the achievements of the objectives of the NGRBA.
